About City Kids Fishing

In the winter of 1989, a group of men concerned with the growing juvenile crime rate met to discuss an idea based on a time proven notion.

These men had two primary interests in common: compassion for today's youth and a strong love for nature and fishing.  Coincidentally, they also discovered that each had grown up fishing with a father or grandfather.

Their idea?  Recruit a group of ardent fishermen concerned about kids and develop an alternative to some of the city's temptations-fishing in the great outdoors.  Hence, formation in spring, 1990 of the "City Kids Fishing Club."

Following numerous meetings, the original nucleus, now charter members of the club's Board of Directors, took the first group of kids fishing.  Based on the success of that initial outing, the board scheduled a second trip later that summer.  Successive years have found the club expanding in both membership and the number of outings.

The success of the program has been great.  We promote sportsmanship, ethics, sharing, excitement and camraderie.  A positive experience is the best gift we can give.
